Overview
Utsukushimori is a low, hill-like peak of 1,542 meters in Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture, set on a ridge extending east from Mount Akadake in the Southern Alps. Yamanashi Prefectural Route 615, the Utsukushimori-Kiyosato line, runs along its base, making the summit easy to reach. History
Utsukushimori sits on the eastern ridge of Mount Akadake and has long been enjoyed as a viewpoint within the Kiyosato Highlands. An observation deck stands at the summit, which also serves as one starting point for the trail that continues via the Shinkyoji Ridge toward Mount Akadake. The peak lies near 35.94 degrees north and 138.42 degrees east, in the Kiyosato Highlands area of Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture. Best season
Early summer, with its dazzling fresh greenery, through autumn, when the clear highland air brings the Akaishi ridgeline into sharp focus, is especially recommended. At 1,542 meters in highland terrain, it stays relatively cool even in summer and suits a walk to escape the heat. In winter, watch for snow and ice and dress warmly.
