Overview
Mount Kumotori stands at the boundary of Tokyo, Saitama and Yamanashi Prefectures on Honshū, with an elevation of 2,017.13 metres. Its summit is the highest point in Tokyo and marks it as one of the representative peaks of the Chichibu-Tama-Kai National Park. The mountain is counted among the 100 Famous Mountains of Japan and the 100 Famous Yamanashi Mountains.

History
A first-class triangulation station is fixed at the summit. Established in December 1882, it is regarded as one of the earliest triangulation points set up in Japan.

The mountain lies at the meeting point of Tokyo, Saitama and Yamanashi Prefectures, in a remote location deep among the mountains.
Best season
As a high peak, it is best climbed in a season of settled weather when the trails are easy to walk.
