History

Homi Shrine is counted among the Shikinaisha, the shrines of Kai Province listed in the Engishiki register of deities compiled in the Heian period. To be a Shikinaisha is to carry down the antiquity and standing of a shrine recorded more than a thousand years ago. Long venerated in the district of Takao, it has borne a part of the faith of Kai Province. Because the source material does not fully describe its enshrined deity, founding origins, or annual festival, visitors are encouraged to confirm such details through on-site accounts or official information.

Access

The shrine is enshrined in Takao, Minami-Alps City, Yamanashi Prefecture. Located on the western side of the Kofu Basin at the foot of the Southern Alps, it is convenient to reach by car from nearby stations such as Nirasaki, and access from the Kofu-Showa or Nirasaki interchanges of the Chuo Expressway is also possible. As it sits in the hilly district of Takao, it is reassuring to confirm the detailed route and parking through official information in advance.

Best season

The shrine can be visited throughout the four seasons, but spring and early summer wrapped in fresh greenery, and autumn with its clear air, are especially pleasant alongside the Southern Alps scenery of Takao. The shrine grows lively on days of the annual festival and other rites, but as the dates vary from year to year, it is best to confirm before visiting.
