Overview
Ushioku no Gangaharasuriyama is a 1,990-meter peak straddling the boundary of Otsuki and Koshu in Yamanashi Prefecture. Highlights

- ●Quiet ridge walking in the southern Daibosatsu range
History
The name Gangaharasuriyama comes from an old legend that migrating wild geese passed through a saddle so narrow they seemed to brush their bellies against the ridge. Several peaks in the area share this name, and this one adds the prefix Ushioku, referring to its location, to set it apart, resulting in the unusually long title. The mountain sits at the edge of hills long tied to local life; for its precise origins, please refer to on-site signs and official sources.
Access
Located on the border of Otsuki and Koshu, the peak is reached from the direction of Otsuki Station or Kai-Yamato Station on the JR Chuo Main Line. Public transport to the trailheads is limited, so many hikers use a private car or taxi, often walking this summit as part of a traverse in the southern part of the Daibosatsu range. Because the trails require proper mountaineering gear, check the latest transport and forest-road conditions on official sources before setting out.
Best season
Early summer with fresh greenery and autumn with clear, crisp air are the most rewarding times, when Mount Fuji stands out sharply. Late autumn to early winter offers especially far-reaching views befitting the Twelve Superb Views of Mount Fuji. Winter brings snow and ice that raise the difficulty, so careful preparation and weather judgment are essential.
