History

It formerly held the rank of district shrine, and its main hall, tsutsugayu rite, and the large zelkova in its precincts are designated cultural properties of Hokuto. The Edo-period gazetteer Kai Kokushi preserves descriptions of assets such as the shrine's granted landholdings, its forested grounds, and the priest's residence.

Access

It stands in the Kamijo-Miyakubo area of Nagasaka-cho, Hokuto, usually reached by heading in from the surrounding Nagasaka district.

The fresh greenery when the large zelkova is in leaf and the colored foliage of autumn suit a walk through the precincts.
