Homi Suwa Jugosho Shrine

Overview

Homi Suwa Jugosho Shrine is a shrine in the Kamijo-Miyakubo area of Nagasaka-cho, Hokuto, Yamanashi Prefecture. A former district shrine, its main hall, its tsutsugayu (bamboo-tube porridge) rite, and a large zelkova tree in the precincts are designated cultural properties of the city. The Edo-period gazetteer Kai Kokushi records details of its shrine holdings.

History

It formerly held the rank of district shrine, and its main hall, tsutsugayu rite, and the large zelkova in its precincts are designated cultural properties of Hokuto. The Edo-period gazetteer Kai Kokushi preserves descriptions of assets such as the shrine's granted landholdings, its forested grounds, and the priest's residence.
