
Overview
The Chido Museum is a registered museum in Tsuruoka, Yamagata Prefecture. Its name derives from the Chidōkan, the domain school of the former Shōnai Domain. It houses folk materials from the Shōnai region along with items and implements used at the domain school, and is operated by the Chido Museum foundation.

History
The museum was founded in 1950 by the former Lord Sakai of the Shōnai Domain, who donated his properties to promote local culture. Meiji-period buildings relocated to the site, including the former Nishitagawa District Office (1881) and the former Tsuruoka Police Station (1884), have been designated Important Cultural Property. The former Shibuya Family Home, built in 1822, was also relocated and preserved here.
