Overview

Maekawa Dam is a rockfill dam 50 meters high, built on a tributary of the Maekawa River within the Mogami River system in Kaminoyama, Yamagata Prefecture. It was constructed with national subsidy for flood control of the Maekawa and the merging Sugawa rivers, and is operated by the prefecture. Its crest length reaches 265.5 meters.

History

The dam was built with national subsidy to regulate flooding of the Maekawa River and the merging Sugawa River. Construction began in 1971 and was completed in 1982 as a prefecture-operated flood-control dam.
