Overview
Hokiin is a temple of the Koyasan Shingon sect, ranked as a bekkaku-honzan (special head temple), on Mount Koya in the town of Koya, Wakayama Prefecture. Its principal image is the Eleven-faced Kannon, and it is also called "Okoromo-dera." History
Hokiin is one of the component parts of the UNESCO World Heritage "Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range." It is the 6th sacred site of the New Saigoku Kannon Pilgrimage and enshrines the Eleven-faced Kannon as its principal image.
