History
The Ichihori River began as an outer moat of Wakayama Castle. Together with the Waka, Daimon, Sanadabori, and Arimoto rivers, which also originate from the castle's outer moats, the five waterways are collectively known as the Uchikawa.
Access
The river runs through the center of Wakayama and can be reached from the old castle-town streets. For walking paths and viewing spots, it is best to check a map or official information before your visit.
Best season
Spring and autumn are ideal for a pleasant waterside stroll, and an unhurried walk during the bright daytime hours lets you enjoy the townscape as well.
