Fudarakusan-ji is a Tendai temple in Nachikatsuura, Higashimuro District, Wakayama Prefecture. Its name derives from Mount Potalaka, the transliteration of the Sanskrit word for the Pure Land of Kannon. The temple grounds form part of the national historic site "Kumano Sanzan."

History

A Tendai temple, its name comes from Mount Potalaka. It is said to have been founded by Ragyo Shonin, a monk from India. The precinct forms part of the national historic site "Kumano Sanzan," and in July 2004 it was designated as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range."
