The Port of Wakayamashimotsu is a large harbor spanning the three cities of Wakayama, Kainan, and Arida in Wakayama Prefecture. It is managed by Wakayama Prefecture and is a major port designated as an International Hub Port under the Port and Harbor Act and a Specified Port under the Act on Port Regulations. It also serves as the prefecture's disaster-response base port, combining roles in both logistics and tourism.

History
The Port of Wakayamashimotsu is designated an International Hub Port (formerly a Specified Major Port) under the Port and Harbor Act and a Specified Port under the Act on Port Regulations. It has further been designated a base port (disaster-response base port) by Wakayama Prefecture. On December 17, 2015, the area from the Wakayama Main Port District through the Wakaura and Kainan Port Districts was registered as a Minato Oasis, becoming a hub for tourism and exchange centered on the Wakanoura Art Cube as its core facility.
