Overview
Mount Karamatsu is a 2,695.9-meter peak in the Ushiro-Tateyama mountain range of the Hida Mountains (Northern Alps), straddling Hakuba in Nagano Prefecture and Kurobe in Toyama Prefecture. Along with Mount Tsurugi, Mount Tateyama and Mount Kashimayari, it is one of the few mountains in Japan where a glacier still exists.

History
Mount Karamatsu forms part of the Ushiro-Tateyama range within the Hida Mountains, or Northern Alps, and is also known by the name Kamiinugatake. Like Mount Tsurugi, Mount Tateyama and Mount Kashimayari, it is known to retain an existing glacier.
Access

The climbing season varies with snow conditions, and the mountain's confirmed glacier gives its snow-covered scenery a distinctive character.
