Overview

Mount Korei is a 751.4-meter peak rising in western Tottori Prefecture. Straddling the boundary between Daisen and Yonago, its neatly formed, broad-based silhouette can be admired from the surrounding farmland and coastline. Standing northwest of the famous Mount Daisen, it is a familiar landmark for local people.

History

Mount Korei sits on the border of the towns of Daisen and Yonago, with an elevation recorded at 751.4 meters. It has long also been known by the alternate names Karayama, written in two different ways. The survival of several old names hints at a long relationship between this mountain and its region.

Access

The mountain lies in western Tottori Prefecture on the boundary of Daisen and Yonago. It is easily reached from central Yonago and the Sea of Japan side, but as trailhead and route details can change, please confirm specific access via maps and official information.

Best season

The mountain's shape stands out crisply in the clear air of autumn and winter, while the fresh greenery of early summer also makes for pleasant walking. Enjoy it during bright daytime hours together with the views from its foot.
