Overview
The Sumida Aquarium is a public aquarium in Oshiage, Sumida, Tokyo, located within the Tokyo Solamachi complex of Tokyo Skytree Town on the 5th and 6th floors of the Tokyo Skytree. It opened on 22 May 2012, at the same time as the Tokyo Skytree itself, and is positioned as an urban-type aquarium.

History
The Sumida Aquarium opened on 22 May 2012, at the same time as the Tokyo Skytree. Because of its location away from the coast, it uses artificial seawater, and its water purification and recirculation systems keep the amount of new water it requires low.

Best season
As an indoor aquarium it can be enjoyed year-round regardless of the weather, with different day and night lighting shaping the atmosphere inside.
