
Overview
Tokyo Skytree is a broadcasting and observation tower in Oshiage, Sumida, Tokyo, and one of the city's landmarks. At 634 metres it is the tallest tower in the world, and the third tallest structure overall, behind Burj Khalifa and Merdeka 118. It also serves as a primary television and radio broadcast site for the Kantō region.

History
The tower was completed on 29 February 2012 and opened to the public as a broadcasting tower and tourist facility on 22 May 2012. It was built on the former freight yard of Tobu Railway's old Narihirabashi Station, now Tokyo Skytree Station, and forms the core of the Tokyo Skytree Town development. It is a symbol of the Tobu Group and is built and operated by Tobu Tower Skytree Co., Ltd.
Access
The tower connects directly to Tokyo Skytree Station and Oshiage Station, giving easy access by rail. Retail facilities such as Tokyo Solamachi are attached to the complex.
Best season
As an indoor observation facility it can be enjoyed year round, and on clear days the view extends far into the distance. From evening into night the tower offers views of the city lights.
