Overview
Ryuzu Falls is a waterfall on the Takidani River in Kamonomiya, Mino-cho, in the city of Miyoshi, Tokushima Prefecture. Fed by a tributary of the Nakadori River, this clear cascade has been selected as one of the 「88 Scenic Views of Tokushima」 and one of the 「50 Best Water Journeys of Tokushima」. Rather than grand spectacle, it offers the quiet of a mountain valley and the sound of falling water, making it a lovely short detour into the folds of the Shikoku Mountains.

History
The name Ryuzu, meaning 「dragon's head」, is thought to come from the way the water slips down the rock like the head of a dragon. The falls appear on both the prefecture's 「88 Scenic Views of Tokushima」 and the 「50 Best Water Journeys of Tokushima」, and have been handed down as one of the representative natural sights of the region. For detailed origins and local legends, please refer to on-site guidance or official sources.
Access
The falls lie at about 34.06°N, 133.98°E in the hills of Kamonomiya, Mino-cho, Miyoshi. Access is generally by car via the Ikawa-Ikeda interchange on the Tokushima Expressway or from the Miyoshi area. Some sections of the approach are mountain road, so drive with care, and it is wise to check parking availability and current road conditions via official sources before setting out.
Best season
The fresh green of spring and early summer and the coloured leaves of autumn are especially fine. After rain the flow swells and the falls show more power. In summer the shade and the sound of water bring a cool respite, ideal for a hot-day detour. In winter the roads may freeze, so take great care with footing and driving conditions.
