Overview

The Akuigawa Riverside Green Space is an urban green area spread along the Akui River as it flows through Tokushima City, Tokushima Prefecture. Developed as a waterside park where visitors can get close to the river, it is a relaxing spot for residents to stroll, jog, or play by the water while enjoying the breeze off the current and the open sky above the riverbed. Close to central Tokushima, its unpretentious charm lies in being an easy, everyday place to drop by.

History

The green space was established as an urban park on 31 March 1987. By making use of the Akui River's floodplain, a riverside that also serves flood-control functions was opened to the public as a waterside area where people can come near the water and unwind. Since then it has been cherished as a familiar, community-rooted riverside park.
