History
The shrine traces its lineage to Nakata district in the old province of Awa and is counted among the Shikinaisha of Awa Province. A Shikinaisha is a shrine listed in the register of deities in the Heian-period Engishiki, a mark of ancient rank that testifies to the long history of worship on this site. The main hall follows the Kasuga-zukuri style epitomized by Kasuga Taisha in Nara, carrying forward the traditions of an old and venerable shrine.
