Overview
Yakurahime Shrine (Amenoiwatowake Yakurahime Shrine) is a Shinto shrine in Nishi-Yano, Kokufu-cho, in the city of Tokushima, Tokushima Prefecture. It is one of the candidate shrines identified with the Shikinai-taisha of the same name and is counted among the ichinomiya of Awa Province, with a former rank of prefectural shrine. A distinctive feature is that Mount Sugio, on which it stands, is itself venerated as the shrine's sacred body.

History
The shrine is considered one of the candidate sites for the Shikinai-taisha named Amenoiwatowake Yakurahime Shrine listed in the classical Engishiki registers, and is counted among the ichinomiya of Awa Province. Its former rank was that of a prefectural shrine. It preserves an ancient form of mountain worship, taking Mount Sugio, on which it stands, as the object of veneration.
