Overview
Utsunomiya Futarayama Shrine is a Shinto shrine standing on the summit of Mt. Myojin (Usugamine; elevation 135 meters) in the center of Utsunomiya city, Tochigi Prefecture. It is one of the shrines identified with a shikinaisha (Myojin Taisha) and is counted as the ichinomiya of former Shimotsuke Province. Its former rank was Kokuhei Chusha, and it is now a Beppyo shrine of the Association of Shinto Shrines.

History
The shrine is regarded as one of the candidate shikinaisha (Myojin Taisha) and has been counted as the ichinomiya of former Shimotsuke Province. Its formal name is Futarayama Shrine, but it is called Utsunomiya Futarayama Shrine, prefixed with the place name, to distinguish it from the Futarasan Shrine in Nikko. In earlier times it was also known as Utsunomiya Daimyojin, and today it is popularly called Futara-san.
Access
The shrine lies in the center of Utsunomiya city and can be reached from the surrounding urban area. It is advisable to check the specific route in advance.
Best season
The main festival is held annually on October 21. Worship is possible throughout the year.
