Overview

The Asagiri Plateau lies at the southwestern base of Mount Fuji in northern Fujinomiya, Shizuoka Prefecture, at an elevation of about 700 to 1,000 meters. Part of the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, it offers views of Mount Fuji across its vast expanse. It is well known as a scenic spot for Fuji sightseeing.

History

The name Asagiri derives from the words for 'morning' and 'fog.' Long appreciated as a highland spreading across the western base of Mount Fuji, it has been known as a scenic spot for Fuji sightseeing.

The plateau lies in the northern part of Fujinomiya, Shizuoka Prefecture, at the western base of Mount Fuji.

Because Mount Fuji can be seen across the entire expanse, clear days with crisp air are best for the views. True to its name, mist tends to form in the morning.
