
Overview
Rokuon Shrine stands in the Ninomiya area of Iwata City, Shizuoka Prefecture. Listed as a Shikinaisha in the Heian-era Engishiki shrine register, it holds the traditional rank of "Ninomiya" (second shrine) of former Tōtōmi Province, and its earlier official rank was gosha (village shrine).

History
Until the close of the Edo period the shrine was known as Takane Myōjin-sha and enshrined the deity Takahikone-no-mikoto. Its listing as a Shikinaisha reflects a long-standing role in the province's shrine hierarchy, and it is remembered today as the "Ninomiya" (second shrine) of Tōtōmi Province.
Access
The shrine lies east-southeast of Iwata Station, south of the Yokosuka Kaidō road. Its northern side borders the temple Renpuku-ji.
