History
Temple tradition dates its founding to 729. At some point the name changed from the earlier Shōryū-ji to the current Konryū-ji, and the temple has continued its practice in Kakegawa ever since. It is also counted among the Tōtōmi Sanjūsan Kannon (33-temple) pilgrimage sites.
