History
Long recognized as the peak that divides Yamaguchi and Shimane along the prefectural border, it has been counted as the highest point in Yamaguchi Prefecture at 1,337 meters. Its selection among the Hundred Mountains of Chugoku helped establish it as one of the region's representative climbing destinations.
Access
The mountain straddles the border of Iwakuni City, Yamaguchi, and Yoshika Town, Shimane, at around latitude 34.47 and longitude 132.05. From the Shimane side, hikers can approach via Yoshika Town. Best season
Hiking is most comfortable from early summer, when fresh greenery glows, through autumn, when the ridgeline turns to color. As a peak of 1,337 meters, it can see snow and ice in winter. Plan with proper gear and attention to the weather, and keep to a manageable itinerary.
