History
Tamatsukuriyu Shrine is a Shikinaisha, listed in the Heian-period Engishiki register, and formerly held the rank of prefectural shrine. Its distinctive crest depicts round, tubular and comma-shaped beads within a double tortoiseshell motif, recalling the area's fame as a major center of bead-making. Its history is intertwined with Tamatsukuri Onsen, and it remains a focus of local faith today.

The shrine sits in a quiet spot along the river within the Tamatsukuri Onsen district of Tamayu, Matsue City. Most visitors reach the spa town from Tamatsukuri-Onsen Station on the JR San'in Main Line, continuing by bus, taxi, or on foot. It is also easily reached from central Matsue and the Izumo area.
