
Overview
Ōmi Ōhashi is a road bridge over Lake Biwa connecting Marunouchi-chō in Ōtsu City and Shinhama-chō in Kusatsu City, Shiga Prefecture. About 1,290 meters long, it serves as a major east–west route across the southern part of Lake Biwa. Crossing it, you can enjoy the wide, open views of the lake.

History
The old bridge opened in September 1974, and a new bridge was later added. Originally built and managed by the Shiga Prefecture Road Public Corporation as part of the Ōmi Ōhashi toll road, it was opened to free passage on December 26, 2013.
Access
Ōmi Ōhashi connects Marunouchi-chō in Ōtsu City with Shinhama-chō in Kusatsu City. Among other road bridges over Lake Biwa, the Setagawa Ōhashi lies about 3 km to the south and the Biwako Ōhashi about 19 km to the north. Please check maps and official information for specific routes and parking.
Best season
Spring and autumn, when the air is clear and the lake surface and the mountains on the far shore look their best, are recommended. At dusk you can take in the light setting over Lake Biwa and the views across the water.
