Chizen-in is a temple of the Tendai Shinsei sect in Nagahama, Shiga Prefecture. Its principal image is Amida Nyorai, the Buddha of the Western Pure Land. History

Chizen-in belongs to the Tendai Shinsei sect and has served as a branch temple of Saikyo-ji in Sakamoto, Otsu, the head temple of the same sect. Saikyo-ji was revived in the Muromachi period by the priest Shinsei as a center for nenbutsu practice and monastic discipline, and Chizen-in is one of the provincial branch temples that carry on that teaching. Nagahama itself flourished as a castle town developed by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in the Warring States era, and the temple has been preserved as a place of faith within that townscape.
