Overview
The Kyu-Yodo River is the former main stream of the Yodo River, branching south at the Kema Water Gate (Kema Lock). Before the present Yodo River was constructed in 1907, this was in fact the main stream of the Yodo River. Today it is a major waterway in central Osaka.

History
Before the present Yodo River was constructed in 1907 through a normalisation project, this was the main stream of the Yodo River. From upstream, the Okawa, Dojima and Aji Rivers are designated as the Kyu-Yodo River, a Class-A river; the Tosabori River also forms part of it.
Access
The river flows through central Osaka City. It is advisable to confirm the local route in advance when heading to the riverside.
Best season
For a walk along the water, a mild season is the most comfortable.
