Overview
Universal Studios Japan (USJ) is a theme park located in the Sakurajima area of Konohana Ward, Osaka. It is one of the Universal Studios theme parks operating worldwide and was the first to open outside the United States. The park is owned and operated by NBCUniversal, a Comcast company.

History
The park opened on March 31, 2001. It was the third Universal Studios theme park to open, following Universal Studios Hollywood in California and Universal Studios Florida, and the first to open outside the United States. Since 2017, it has been wholly owned and operated by NBCUniversal.
