
Overview
The Port of Naha is a harbor in Naha, Okinawa Prefecture, designated as a Major Port under Japan's Port and Harbor Act and also as a core international port. It is managed by the Naha Port Authority, a special local public body established by Okinawa Prefecture, Naha, and Urasoe. Serving as Okinawa's gateway, it maintains more than 50 shipping routes, including international container services, and supports the economic activity of over 40 islands.

History
The present Port of Naha opened in 1972. It is administered by the Naha Port Authority, a partial-affairs association established by Okinawa Prefecture, Naha, and Urasoe. In addition to being a Major Port under the Port and Harbor Act, it is designated a core international port and a Specified Port under the Harbor Regulation Act.

The port lies in Naha, Okinawa Prefecture, near the urban area of Naha. Shipping routes connecting the surrounding islands depart from the port.
