
Overview
Ishima is one of the islands of the Naoshima Islands in the Seto Inland Sea. The prefectural boundary between Okayama and Kagawa runs across the island, and the Okayama side is also written with different characters read the same way. Covering about 2.64 square kilometers, it belongs administratively to Tamano in Okayama Prefecture and Naoshima in Kagawa Prefecture.

History
The prefectural boundary between Okayama and Kagawa runs through the island, with the Okayama side written using different characters read the same way. As of January 2015 the population was 92, and the 38 households recorded as of 2011 all resided on the Okayama side.
Access
Ishima lies among the Naoshima Islands of the Seto Inland Sea, straddling Tamano in Okayama and Naoshima in Kagawa. Access by boat is limited, so checking in advance is advisable.
Best season
When the sea is calm, the island scenery of the Seto Inland Sea is easiest to enjoy; choose a day with settled weather.
