History

The temple was founded by Ikeda Toshitaka, ancestor of the Ikeda clan who ruled the Okayama Domain, and served as the family temple (bodaiji) of Ikeda Terumasa and Ikeda Toshitaka. It belongs to the Myoshinji branch of the Rinzai sect and enshrines Shakyamuni Buddha as its principal image.
