
Overview
Beppu Tower is a 90-meter observation tower in Beppu, Oita Prefecture. Formerly known as the Kanko Center TV Tower, it was designed by Tachu Naito, who also worked on Tokyo Tower. It is known as the third tall tower built in Japan, after the Nagoya TV Tower and Tsutenkaku.

History
Beppu Tower was built in 1957 and opened on May 10 of that year. It was the third tall tower erected in Japan, after the Nagoya TV Tower and Tsutenkaku, and has long been a symbol of tourism in Beppu. Designed by Tachu Naito, who also worked on structures such as Tokyo Tower, it was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan on October 2, 2007.
