History
The park's history dates back to March 1967, when it first opened as Kijima Motopia Land. After many years of popularity, it was renamed Kijima Kogen Park on May 1, 2012. The wooden coaster Jupiter, introduced in 1992, was groundbreaking for its time and has been cherished as the symbol of this highland park ever since.
Access
The park sits on the Kijima highland in Beppu City, Oita Prefecture (around 33.26°N, 131.43°E). Its location makes it convenient to reach from the famous hot-spring areas of Beppu and Yufuin, and most visitors arrive by car. Opening hours, operating days, and public transport options can change by season, so check official information before your visit.
Best season
Because it lies on a highland, the park stays relatively cool even in summer, and spring through autumn is ideal for enjoying the outdoor attractions. Cherry blossoms, fresh greenery, and autumn foliage each give the plateau a different character, letting you play all day in clear air. It is best to confirm winter operations in advance.
