History

Roadside Station Kamae opened on August 10, 2005. Built in Kamae along the ria coast in the south of Saiki City, it has been valued as a rest stop for travelers on National Route 388 and as a base for showcasing local products. Centered on fresh fish from a sea town where yellowtail farming thrives, it has served to connect local life with visitors.

Access

It stands in the Kamae district of Saiki City, Oita Prefecture, at roughly 32.80 degrees north and 131.92 degrees east. Located along National Route 388, it is an easy stop on a drive tracing the southern coastline. Public transport is limited, so visiting by car is convenient; for detailed hours and facilities, it is best to check official information.

Best season

To make the most of the seafood, winter is especially recommended, when the fat-rich yellowtail becomes deeply flavorful. Spring and summer drives are refreshing with pleasant sea views, and seasonal fish fill the shelves through the year. There is the pleasure of visiting for whatever the sea offers in each season.
