
Overview
Mount Takatsuma is a 2,353-meter peak straddling the border between Myoko in Niigata Prefecture and Nagano in Nagano Prefecture. It is the highest peak of the Togakushi mountain range and one of the summits behind Togakushi. It is one of the 100 Famous Japanese Mountains and is also known as Togakushi Fuji.

History
In earlier times the mountain was frequented by ascetic monks of mountain-based religion, and as a trace of this, small stone Buddhist statues and place names remain at various points. The route follows a sequence beginning with Ichifudo and continuing through statues such as Shaka, Monju, Fugen, Jizo, Miroku, Kannon, Yakushi and Seishi, reaching the summit by way of Amida.
