
Overview
Isonokami Shrine is a Shinto shrine in Furu, Tenri, Nara Prefecture. It is a shikinai-sha of the highest rank (myōjin-taisha) and holds the top court rank of Shō-ichi-i. One of the oldest extant shrines in Japan, it is mentioned in the Kojiki and the Nihon Shoki, and the Seven-Branched Sword handed down here is well known.

History
One of the oldest extant Shinto shrines, it is recorded in the Kojiki and the Nihon Shoki and was highly regarded in ancient times. It is a shikinai-sha (myōjin-taisha) holding the court rank of Shō-ichi-i. Its structures, including the haiden of the Isonokami Shrine and that of the auxiliary Izumo Takeo Shrine, are designated National Treasures, and its buildings employ the nagare-zukuri style.
