Overview
Nakadōri Island is one of the islands making up the Gotō Islands, which lie off the western coast of Nagasaki Prefecture in the sea of Japan. The entire island belongs to the town of Shinkamigoto in Minamimatsuura district, offering an intricate coastline and calm island scenery. It stands out among the principal islands of the Gotō chain.

History
The island covers about 168.34 square kilometers, making it the second largest of the Gotō Islands after Fukue Island. The 2010 census recorded a population of 20,167 on the island. It is known as the easternmost of the chain's major islands.
Access
Administratively it belongs to Shinkamigoto in Minamimatsuura district, forming part of the Gotō Islands off the western coast of Kyushu. It is linked to Wakamatsu Island to the southwest by the Wakamatsu Bridge and to Kashiragashima to the east by the Kashiragashima Bridge.
