History
The park opened on July 22, 1983, and further institutional development is recorded as of March 31, 1989. It closed on October 21, 2001. Saikai City purchased the former site in 2003, and in 2005 it was reopened as a food-themed park called Cas Village, which folded after roughly half a year. In 2010, part of the site became home to the Saikai City Hall Seihi General Branch Office and the Nagasaki Prefecture Ken'o Promotion Bureau's Saikai Agriculture and Forestry Office. In spring 2015, Saikai City sought an operator for a partial reopening, selecting a new company established by the operators of the Nagasaki Bio Park zoo; the facility was redeveloped with an eye toward a March 2016 opening. It reopened on April 16, 2016 as Port Holun Nagasaki, then was renamed back to its original name, Nagasaki Holland Village (second incarnation), on November 27, 2017. In May 2021, it closed again due to aging facilities and a decline in visitors linked to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Access
The site is located in Saikai City, Nagasaki Prefecture, generally reached by road from central Saikai or from Nagasaki and Sasebo. Given the facility's history of repeated closures and reopenings, visitors should check the current operating status before planning a visit.
Best season
As an outdoor theme park facility, periods of stable weather would generally be most comfortable, but given its current closed status, checking the latest operational information through official sources beforehand is essential.
