Overview

The Port of Fukue is a harbor in Goto City, Nagasaki Prefecture, administered by Nagasaki Prefecture itself.

Highlights

  • A harbor in Goto City, Nagasaki, administered by Nagasaki Prefecture
  • Designated an Important Port under the Port and Harbor Act
  • The principal sea gateway for the Shimo-Goto area of Goto City
  • Terminus of Route 384's land section, connected onward by sea to Narao Port

History

It has been designated an Important Port under Japan's Port and Harbor Act, and has long served as the principal sea gateway for the Shimo-Goto area, meaning the Goto City side of the Goto Islands.

Access

National Route 384's overland section on Fukue Island terminates at this port, after which the route continues as a sea section all the way to Narao Port on Nakadori Island, in Shinkamigoto Town. Since travel along that stretch depends on boat service, it's a good idea to check ferry schedules and operating conditions in advance.

Best season

As a hub for sea transport, it makes sense to plan a visit around sea conditions and weather that affect ferry and high-speed boat operation. Timing a trip outside the typhoon season tends to make planning more straightforward.

Did you know?

💡 One distinctive feature of the route connecting Fukue Port and Narao Port is that the national highway itself breaks off at the port, continuing onward only as a designated sea route.
