Ōtaki River

Overview

The Ōtaki River is a first-class river of the Kiso River system, flowing from the village of Ōtaki down through the town of Kiso in Nagano's Kiso district before joining the main Kiso River as a primary tributary. Rising on the southern flank of Mount Ontake, its clear mountain stream threads through deep forested valleys, offering the pristine water and woodland scenery that define the Kiso Valley. Running roughly 54 kilometers, its course has long sustained the life and faith of these mountain communities.

History
