
Overview
Osahozuka Kofun is a scallop-shaped burial mound in Miyake, Saito City, Miyazaki Prefecture, and forms one of the tombs of the Maruyama subgroup within the Saitobaru Kofun Cluster. It is estimated to date from the first half of the 5th century, during the middle Kofun period. Together with the adjacent Mesahozuka Kofun, it is regarded as one of the largest kofun in the Kyushu region.

History
The tomb is estimated to have been built in the first half of the 5th century, during the middle Kofun period. The actual person buried here is not known, but the Imperial Household Agency has designated it as a reference site for imperial mausoleums. It stands adjacent to the Mesahozuka Kofun on its southern side.

The tombs of the Saitobaru area can be visited year-round, with the calmer scenery of spring and autumn suiting a walk.
