Overview

Hōsen-ji is a Buddhist temple of the Shingon-shū Chizan-ha school located in Taihaku-ku, Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture. Its principal image is Fudō Myōō, and the tranquil grounds hold a Jizō hall dedicated to longevity and a hall enshrining the Eleven-Headed Kannon. History

The temple's honzon is Fudō Myōō, and it belongs to the Chizan branch of Shingon Buddhism. Hōsen-ji is designated the first station of the Natori Thirty-Three Kannon pilgrimage, with the Eleven-Headed Kannon as its pilgrimage image. Its role as the departure point of the circuit reflects its devotional importance. For details on its founding, please refer to official sources.
