Overview
Ogama-Hanzo is a stretch of coast on the eastern side of the Karakuwa Peninsula in Kesennuma, Miyagi Prefecture, a scenic curiosity of rugged sea cliffs and sea caves. Divided at the mouth of the bay off Maeda Beach, the northern part is called Ogama and the southern part Hanzo. It is a scenic spot where you can enjoy up close the rock formations carved over long ages by the waves of the Pacific.

History
This area was designated a Scenic Beauty spot by Miyagi Prefecture on August 31, 1959, in recognition of its distinctive coastal scenery. The cliffs and caves born of wave erosion are known as formations shaped by the power of nature.
Access
The site lies on the eastern shore of the Karakuwa Peninsula in Kesennuma, Miyagi (around 38.89°N, 141.67°E). Ogama is on the northern side of the bay mouth off Maeda Beach and Hanzo on the southern side, each reached by walking paths. Best season
The calm months from spring through autumn are the easiest time to visit, when you can walk and enjoy the scenery of sea and rock. On clear days the contrast between the blue of the sea and the rock faces stands out all the more. The coast can be windy on some days, so watch your footing and the weather as you explore.
