Miyato Island is an island in Higashimatsushima, Miyagi Prefecture, located between Matsushima Bay and Ishinomaki Bay. With a circumference of about 12 kilometers, it is the largest island in Matsushima Bay.

History
Miyato Island lies between Matsushima Bay and Ishinomaki Bay, both branches of Sendai Bay, and is the largest island within Matsushima Bay. It forms the heart of the area known as Oku-Matsushima within the wider Matsushima sightseeing region, one of Japan's Three Views, and has long been known for its distinctive coastal scenery.
