History

The memorial hall opened in April 1981. Sendai suffered great damage in the Sendai air raids in the final stage of World War II, and is a city that achieved its recovery from that devastation. Built to commemorate that reconstruction, the facility is also positioned as Aoba Ward's cultural center, alongside the cultural centers of Miyagino, Taihaku and Wakabayashi wards and the Izumi Cultural Creation Center of Izumi Ward.
