History
Hot spring water once welled up naturally along the Atsumi River, but in recent years it has been obtained by pumping it up from dug wells. The place name "Atsumi" is said to come from the way the spring water flowed through the Atsumi River into the sea and warmed it. It is also seen written in the older form as Atsumi Onsen.
