Overview
Ujiyamada Port is a local port in Ise City, Mie Prefecture, situated at the mouth of the Isuzu River. Its port area extends to include the waters of the Isuzu River and the Seta River as well as the sea off Futamigaura.
Highlights
- ●Its location at the mouth of the Isuzu River as a local port
- ●A broad port area that includes the waters of the Isuzu and Seta rivers
- ●Port boundaries that extend out to the waters off Futamigaura
- ●Its present-day role as a working port focused on gravel handling
History
Because the port sits at a river mouth, sediment has continually built up there, a factor that has hampered the port's functioning over time. Today it sees almost no use as a shipping route and instead serves almost exclusively for handling gravel cargo.
Access
The port lies near the mouth of the Isuzu River within Ise City, not far from the city center that is home to Ise Grand Shrine. As it is not set up as a sightseeing port, visitors should check the surrounding road conditions before heading there.
Best season
Since this is a working river-mouth port rather than a scenic destination tied to a set season, the coastal waters off Futamigaura included in its port area can be viewed at any time of year.
