
Overview
The Mie Prefectural Art Museum is an art museum in Tsu, Mie Prefecture. It opened in 1982 as the first full-scale art museum in the Chubu and Tokai regions. Its collection of more than 6,000 works includes pieces by artists connected to Mie, such as Soga Shohaku, as well as Western art centered on Spain.

History
The museum opened in 1982 as the first full-scale art museum in the Chubu and Tokai regions. Its first director was the art historian Tetsuro Kagesato. In 2003 it reopened after renovation, and the Yoshitatsu Yanagihara Memorial Hall was inaugurated.

As an indoor facility, it can be enjoyed throughout the year. Visiting during a special exhibition period is also recommended.
