Tobase Island

Overview

Tobase Island lies in the northern part of the Yatsushiro Sea and belongs to Uki City in Kumamoto Prefecture. Before a 2005 municipal merger, it was part of the town of Misumi in Uto District.

History

Tobase Island was once its own administrative unit, the village of Tobase in Uto District. It later became part of the town of Misumi, also in Uto District, and following a municipal merger in 2005, it became part of present-day Uki City in Kumamoto Prefecture.
